Hello, I'm

Nina Xiao

Aspiring UI designer and Content Creator

I'm a maker at my core.

I get energy from creating things that other people can feel, react to, or be inspired by.

About Me

I’ve always been driven by the joy of creating experiences to share with others. What started with crayons and baking trays slowly fell into a love for visual storytelling, and that curiosity eventually guided me toward interface design and frontend development.

Today, I bring that same curiosity into my work, blending creativity and hands-on problem-solving through content creation, UX/UI, and frontend development to craft thoughtful, people-centered experiences.

Whether I’m shaping an interface, building a visual story, or baking something from scratch, I’m the happiest when I’m making something meaningful and sharing it with others.

Experience

Storytelling

Bringing ideas to life in a way that connects with others is what excites me most.

I tell stories through food. I blend visuals, pacing, and emotion to create videos that make simple moments feel warm and meaningful.

Empathy

I design with people in mind. I care about what people need and how they feel. That perspective shapes the work I put into the world.

I identified limitations in the social experience of Apple Fitness and explored a conceptual redesign, adding social posting and editable profile features.

Curiosity

I follow what sparks my interest, always exploring and experimenting along the way.

I’ve grown familiar with different creative tools that help me bring ideas to life.

AI Skills

AI helps me understand complex concepts and speeds up reading and notes, but I hate how convenient it is. The more I use it, the more dependent I feel, and I don’t want it replacing the way I think or solve things.

Using AI to Talk About Myself

I used AI to talk about myself while building this portfolio. I told it to describe me, and honestly, I was shocked. From my interests to my strengths and weaknesses, it picked up patterns and habits I didn’t even realize I had. It was even able to guess my MBTI. It was scary, but I hate to admit that it was right. It read me a little too well.

AI-Assisted Research & Learning

I use AI as a way to feed my curiosity — asking it questions, testing ideas, and exploring patterns so I can build a deeper understanding.

Understanding AI’s Limits & Biases

I know AI can be helpful, but it can just as easily be wrong. I double-check what it gives me and rely on my own judgment to keep my work accurate, human, and ethical.
